Heidi Helen (Homola) Parsons, 33, of Buckley and formerly of Alpena, died at her home Wednesday, April 22, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
Heidi was born on April 7, 1982 at Grand Forks, North Dakota and lived in Bottineau, North Dakota with her parents, Gerhardt Homola and Priscilla (Hepler) Homola until 1989, when she moved to Alpena, Michigan. Growing up, she was a talented, model student and traveled widely with her mother and brother, notably to Norway (1987-8) and later to Bulgaria (1992-3). She graduated from Alpena High in the year 2000, and the same year completed a Certificate in Utility Technology at Alpena Community College—one of the first women to graduate from this program.
Upon graduation, she was hired as a Customer Service Representative for Cherryland Electric Company in Grawn, Michigan, and she worked in that capacity for over twelve years. She accomplished much in her short life--for example, buying her own house at the age of 23.
On September 21, 2013, she married Christopher Matthew Parsons in Buckley, Michigan.
In her spare time she loved collecting rocks on Lake Michigan as well as raising flowers, and was always surrounded by both human and animal friends. She will be fondly remembered for her love of animals, for being a hard and competent worker, for her feisty, no-nonsense personality, and her wry sense of humor.
Heidi is survived by her husband, Chris Parsons; her parents, Gerhardt Homola of Bottineau, North Dakota; and Priscilla Homola, of Alpena, Michigan; her special friend and companion Dewey Hiller (of Buckley); her brother, Roland Homola (also of Alpena) and half-sister, Christine Homola, of Vienna, Austria; and beloved pets, Bailey, Beau, Toby, Sprite, Pippi, Gracie, and Shilo.
A memorial service will be held for Heidi at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Justin Grimm will serve as officiant. Memorial contributions will be directed to the Huron Humane Society. Please sign Heidi's online guestbook at
