WILLIAMSBURG — Helen Bak, 95, of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Hope Village in Williamsburg.Helen was born March 7, 1915, to the late John and Rose (Czarnecki) Pietrykowski in Detroit. Helen entered into marriage with Stanley Bak on Nov. 13, 1935, at St. Hyacinth Roman Catholic Church In Detroit.She worked side-by-side with her husband, Stanley, as they owned and operated Bak Ace Hardware near Seven Mile and Gratiot in Detroit for over 40 years.Helen was the proud mother of three sons, who earned their way through school working in the family business. Helen enjoyed being part of the community as she met people and talked with them as they came into the hardware. In earlier years she could often be found tending her beautiful roses in the garden at their home.She was a faithful, hard-working woman, loving mother, and caring grandmother and great-grandmother.Helen is survived by her sons, Arthur (Theresa) Bak of Williamsburg, Bernard (Diane) Bak of West Branch, and Lawrence Bak of Alpena; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.Her husband, Stanley, preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1998; and her parents; one brother; and a sister also have passed on.Visitation with the family will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 143 Charles Street, Elk Rapids, with the Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski presiding. Graveside committal services will be held at Mt.
