Helen Jane Bowman, 87, of Traverse City, formerly of Flint, MI, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. Helen was born on April 13, 1927, in Flint to the late Lewis and Frances (Vercoe) Rogers. Helen was married to Dale W. Bowman on April 1, 1948, in Flint, MI. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2010. She has lived in Traverse City since 2004, previously in Flint and Flushing. She attended Hurley Nursing School for 3 years. Helen was a member of Bayview Wesleyan Church.

Helen is survived by her four sons; Kenneth (Gail) Bowman, Traverse City, MI, Charles (Denise) Bowman, Traverse City, MI, Jeffrey (Lydia Jo) Bowman, Rock Hill, SC, and Douglas (Michelle) Bowman, Holland, MI, 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Donald (Marifrances) Rogers and two sisters; Evelyn (Roger) Gillette and Phyllis (Robert) Cant as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by a sister: Elizabeth McPherson.

Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.

A funeral service honoring Helen will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Bayview Wesleyan Church, with visiting one hour prior. Pastor Matthew Mabey will officiate. Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Glenwood Cemetery in Flint.
