Helen Elizabeth Broughton (Weber), 85 of Traverse City, died Friday morning, December 30th 2016. Born March 4th 1931 in Traverse City, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Lillian H. (Schreiber) Weber. On May 17th, 1952, in Traverse City she married Laver P. Broughton who survives. Helen lived in Traverse City most of her life except for a few years in the 50's.

She enjoyed hiking, blueberry picking, bird watching, gardening, playing cards, and crocheting. Helen is survived by her husband of 64 years, LaVern P. Broughton, her three children Patricia Witowski, Leonard Broughton (Cindy), Kathleen Potter (Mike), nine grandchildren, Heather, Gina, Chris, Taryn, Katie, Sarah, Tina, Becky, Andrea, and 14 great grand children. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Shirley Weber and many nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by siblings, Lillian Feiger, Louise Wares, Evelyn Johnson, William, Louis and Raymond Weber and Mae Morse.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Pavilions, especially all the nursing staff on Cherrywood for the excellent and warm and loving care they gave Helen for the past five years. Friends and family may call on Thursday, January 5th from 2 – 3 pm with funeral services at 3:00 pm at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. In remembrance of Helen, memorials may be directed to the Parkinson's Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
