Helen Elberta Cluff, 91, of Traverse City, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at French Manor.
Helen was born August 27, 1920 on Old Mission Peninsula to Robert and Lovina (Little) Cooper. She graduated from Traverse City Senior High School in 1939 and attended Lewis-Chapin School of Business. She was employed at Traverse City Implement Company from 1940 - 1942 and at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company from 1942 - 1955.
Helen married Maurice Cluff on October 16, 1954. They raised two daughters together. She enjoyed the many camping trips the family took. Helen lost her eyesight in 1987 due to macular degeneration. She liked playing games and after becoming blind she still could have fun playing Yahtzee. She also enjoyed listening to Detroit Tiger baseball games, as well as many other programs on WTCM and Interlochen Public Radio.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Maurice, May 28, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sister Velma Caldwell, December 25, 1991 and her daughter Elaine Cluff, September 15, 2005.
Helen is survived by her daughter Linda (Steven) Pedlow of Orland Park, IL, as well as nieces and nephews Bonnie (Donald) McMullen, Brian (Helen) Albee and Dennis (Earlene) Albee all of Midland and Sheila (Thomas) Babel of Fairfield, Ohio.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at French Manor for their loving care of Helen.
Memorial's can be made to The Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation Senior Center Building Fund, 250 E. Front Street, Ste. 310 Traverse City, MI 49684.
Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday June 23, 2012 at Reynolds Jonkoff Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Ogdensburg Cemetery on Old Mission Peninsula.
