TRAVERSE CITY - Helen Agnes (Maize) Mace, 82, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014. Helen was born June 18, 1932 in Livingston County, MI to the late Sterling Nicholas Sr. and Imogene (Steele) Maize.
Helen worked primarily in life as a book keeper for her husband's home business, Ray Mace Disposal, but worked in later years for the Giant Way Store until it closed and then for Target in the Home Domestics Department, both in Traverse City.
She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, cooking, hosting large holiday dinners, but most importantly taking care of her family, making sure her children had the important life skills to be self sufficient in life.
Surviving Helen are her brother Larry (Connie) Maize of Tioga, North Dakota; daughter, Brenda (Dave) Cunningham of Mesick, MI: son, John (Arlene) Heymes of Traverse City, MI: son, David (Diane) Heymes Sr of Kalkaska, MI; six(6) grandchildren, seven(7) great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by both parents, her sister, Patricia Maize; a son, William Heymes; her husband, Raymond Mace and a brother, Sterling "Nick" Maize.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation held one hour prior. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
