Helen Winogrodzki

Helen Winogrodzki, 97, of Thompsonville died July 22, 2020 at home surrounded by family.

Helen was born November 29, 1922 in Swoyerville, PA to the late John and Anna (Kuzma) Pyryt.

On June 7, 1947 Helen married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph (Joe) Winogrodzki.

Helen and Joe moved to Michigan in 1951 and lived in the Lathrup Village area for over 40 years. When Joe retired at age 56 they became members of the Polka Boosters of America and the Polka Boosters of Warren and shared many happy years dancing, spending time with friends and traveling to see their children and grandchildren. In 2007, Helen and Joe moved to northern Michigan to be near family.

Helen truly felt that she had lived a wonderful life and that she married her perfect partner. She took great pride in her expanding family and treasured the time that she got to spend with them. Helen was a wonderful wife, mother and grandma and an amazing cook and homemaker. She showed us that it is possible to have a lasting marriage and a long and healthy life, and she leaves behind a legacy of the importance of family and tradition.

Surviving Helen are her daughter Wendy (Mark) Queenan, daughter-in-law Nancy Winogrodzki; grandchildren, Trevor (Lauren) Queenan, Lea (Bill) Black, Amber (Jon) Dunn, Oliver (Katie) Winogrodzki, Elizabeth (Tyler) Habrecht, Anna (Brad) Radcliffe; great-grandchildren, Eila, Kira, Walker, Holland, Ryan, Connor, Amelia, Eliana, Madalyn, Sullivan, Wesley, Stanley, Finley and McKinley; sister-in-law Margaret Winogrodzki and many other loving family members and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe of 65 years, son Curtis, brother Charles Pyryt and sister Josephine Pyryt.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff from Hospice of Michigan and Comfort Keepers.

Helen's life will be celebrated at a later date.
