Traverse City - Hester P. Bodinus, quietly passed into the protecting arms of her Saviour Jesus Christ on July 29, 2012 at the age of 101 1/2 years. For the past several years, Hester lived at the Highlander Senior Assisted Care Home in Traverse City where she received compassionate tender loving care by all who attended to her in her declining years.
She was born on December 1, 1910 in Albany, New York. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and proud of her families heritage and their participation in the founding of the United States of America.
As as teenager, her family moved to Detroit, where she met, fell in love and married the boy next door. They were married for 72 years before her faithful husband Raymond died.
She was an active member in the Farmington, Michigan Garden Club, the Methodist Church in Farmington and other civic activities, before moving to Traverse City in the early 1980's in order to be near her sister and brother-in-law George and Grace Ford.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymon Bodinus, her parents Barrow Perry and Very Armstrong-Perry, a granddaughter Gretchen Lavedas of Detroit, and George and Grace Ford of Traverse City.
She is survived by their son Timothy Bodinus of Fort Worth, Texas, granddaughter Laurel Bodinus-Rumanuk, great granddaughter Cyprus Rumanuk, and great grandson Victor Rumanuk of San Antonio, Texas, a great granddaughter Jessica Lavadus of Detroit, nephew George and Diane Ford of Traverse City, niece Lois and her husband, the Rev. James Redmann of Elk Rapids.
Cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance will be held at a future date due to the distance of several family members. To God be the Glory!
