TRAVERSE CITY — Howard Lloyd Keesling, 62, of Traverse City, who traveled all over the United States working in the oil fields, passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving companion, Dawn. Born April 18, 1948, in Salem, Ore., he was the son of the late Lloyd and Pearl (Fritz) Keesling. Howard faithfully served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to his failing health, Howard worked as a supervisor in the maintenance department of Shoreline Fruit and formerly worked at Traverse Bay Gravel and in construction, working on Munson Medical Center and Copper Ridge. He was an avid NASCAR fan.Howard is survived by his love and partner, Dawn Moyer, of Traverse City; children, Shannon (Mark) Sharpton and their children, Mark, Jr. and Stephanie, of Oklahoma; Shane Keesling and his children, of Oklahoma; Jason (Erica) Keesling and their children, Garrett Keesling, Carmerian Keesling and stepson, Jacob Henlsey, of Wichita, Kan.; Ryan Paul Keesling, of Mesick, serving with the United States Navy; several grandchildren; along with many wonderful dear friends, near and far.In addition to his parents, Howard was also preceded in death by an infant son. A celebration of Howard's life will be held this summer, at which time arrangements will be announced.
