Ida Marie (Harchis) Stepke, 89, of Traverse City, passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016. Ida was born in Detroit on March 11, 1927 to the late Gus and Marie (Hardies) Harchis.
Ida married Vern Stepke on Sept. 6, 1946, in River Rouge and the couple had two sons together and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a devoted and caring wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She was a devoted member of St. Michael Lutheran Church of Traverse City.
Ida is survived by her husband Vern Stepke; sons, David (Lynn) Stepke, and Larry (Sue) Stepke; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Ray Harchis and Roger Harchis.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ev Kelly and Esther Fischer; brother, Bill Harchis.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 11 a.m. on Sat. November 5, 2016 at St. Michael Lutheran Church of Traverse City, with visitation held one hour prior at 10 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Pastor Jim Nihiser will be the officiant.
Memorial contributions in Ida's name may be directed to St. Michael Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan, Comfort Keepers, Glen Eagle Staff, Pastor Jim and the Martha Guild of St. Michael Lutheran Church.
