TRAVERSE CITY – Ila Maxine Cobb, 83, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at French Manor East Assisted Living. Ila was born on May 5, 1933 in Elk Rapids to the late Clarence and Clara (Gee) Wheaton. She was married to Loren Cobb on January 11, 1957 in Alba, Michigan. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2001. Ila had been employed as a secretary by the Traverse City Area Public Schools for over 20 years. She was a member of Bates Missionary Church and Traverse Bay United Methodist Church. She enjoyed riding her bike, shopping and doing ceramics. She also loved just being in her pajamas and drinking coffee. She worked many summers with Hoxie's Farm Market. Above all, spending time with her family was Ila's greatest joy.
Ila is survived by two daughters and two sons; Brenda (Scott) Wyllys, Brian (Tonya) Cobb, Deborah Harrington and Pat (Becky) Cobb. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Cindy Cobb, a sister, Geraldine Selkirk, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Clare Cobb and a sister, Beatrice McColeman.
A Memorial Service honoring Ila will take place at 3:00 p.m., with visiting one hour prior, on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, Michigan, 49684. Rev. Jane Lippert will officiate.
In honor of Ila's wishes a Pot-Luck Picnic celebrating her life will follow at Saylor Park in Yuba.
