Irene Berlin

Irene Berlin, 94 of Traverse City passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Grand Traverse Pavilions with the loving staff of the Aspen Wing and her best friend, Nicole Coe-Blonshine by her side on Sunday May 31, 2015.

Irene was born on October 13, 1920 in Hamtramck to the late Peter P. and Lillian (Frydch) Prus.

Irene moved to the Traverse City area in 1975. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church. In her spare time she loved to play cards, feed the squirrels and listen to polka music.

Irene retired from Sara Lee Bakery in the late 1990's.

Surviving Irene are her children Frank (and very special daughter-in-law Alice) Schaffer, Suzanne (Henry) Trczynski, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and her very special friend Nicole Coe-Blonshine (Scott and Megan).

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Kathleen Schaffer, son, David Schaffer and her beloved cat, Penny.

Interment has taken place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens and a memorial service will be planned for a later date.
