Irene Janice Grose

Irene Grose, 86, of Traverse City passed away peacefully at the Autumn House in McBain on February 15, 2024.

Irene was born on September 20, 1937 in Detroit to the late Nathaniel (Yours) and Mary Pauline (Robertson) Keech. She was the third youngest of 18 children. She had many fond memories of her childhood with all of her brothers and sisters.

Irene was a nurse's aid and was a wonderful caregiver. In her free time she loved cultivating her garden and had the most beautiful flower gardens. She also enjoyed quilting, playing computer games and finding treasures at yard sales.

Above all else, she cherished her family and loved when her kids and grandkids would come by. Music was also a big part of her life. She could play anything with keys and often performed in parades with a calliope. She learned at a very young age and played everything by ear.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ivan O. Grose and all of her siblings.

Irene is survived by her children Richard (Brenda) Rattray, Brenda (Mike) Fegan, Darrell (Brenda) Rattray, Harvey (Debra) Grose, Harold (Christina) Rattray, Teena (Robert) Sanborn; grandchildren Matthew, Kelly, Chanda, Brock, Melissa, Katrina, Steven, Brandon, Jeffery, Adam, Ashley, Alyssa, Jade, Anthony, Aden, Chase, Cayson, Vinnie, Mason, Alistair and Ariston; and great grandchildren Megan, Taylor, Devin, Max, Gavin, Sydney, Avery, Cyndle, Tyana, Jason, Lily, Autumn and Rachel; and great great grandchildren Wynona and Bryson along with countless nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 11:00am with visitation beginning one hour prior at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to Alzheimers Association.
