Iris Jean Bellaw

September 17, 1940 — May 19, 2026

Iris Jean Bellaw, 85, of Kingsley, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at her son and daughter-in-law’s home. They along with her grandchildren were taking good care of her.

Iris was born on September 17, 1940, in Onekama, Michigan, to the late Rheuel and Hazel (Coons) Miller . She graduated from high school in 1958 and went on to earn her associate degree in accounting. A profession she truly loved and excelled in throughout her life.

She was first married to Jack Davis and had two children, Kimberly and Nathan. After divorcing, she married Robert Gierok and the two welcomed a son James “Jamie” who affectionately called, JR. Bob preceded her in death in 1987. In 1989, she married Donald Bellaw. Iris owned and operated Kingsley Accounting for many years and remained dedicated to her work even beyond retirement, as she found it hard to slow down.

After retiring, she and Don moved to Newberry, MI. Following Don’s passing, Iris returned home to be closer to family. Though she once hoped to spend more time gardening and crafting, she found that staying active with bookkeeping and work suited her best.

Iris had a vibrant personality. She was known for being a little stubborn, a little bossy, and perhaps a bit spoiled. It was the “Irish blood” as she would say. But above all, she was incredibly loving. In her younger years, she played both the organ and accordion in many bands. Recently, some of those friends visited her, bringing her great joy.

Dogs held a special place in Iris’s heart. After the loss of Nika and Kayla, she welcomed Brenda Lee into her life. Her dogs were a great comfort to her, especially over the past year with Brenda Lee, who brought her much happiness and friendship.

She is survived by her children, Nathan Davis and James (Jennifer) Gierok; Step Daughter Babette, her Grandchildren; Carissa Marie Kennedy and Nathaniel (Brandy), Tylor James Rheuel, Zoëy Bear, Amanda and Brett, Great Grandchildren, Chase Anthony, Caleb, Mason, Aiden and Keira, and a Great Great Grandson due this week, whom she was so excited to meet and her sister Mary who just celebrated her 100th birthday. She leaves behind countless friends and clients who will dearly miss her as well.

Iris was preceded in death by her husband’s Bob and Don; her beautiful daughter, Kimberley Davis, in 2002; Step-son Bill and all but one of her siblings, she was the youngest of 16 children.

Iris was a hardworking and devoted woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is now reunited in heaven with her baby girl, Kimberly, whom she missed with all her heart.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 3pm until 7pm with a sharing time held at 4pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens at a later time.
