Isaac Thomas Harrigan, 39 of St Ignace, passed away on September 21, 2024, at his parents' residence in Traverse City from an unexpected medical condition. He was born on August 24, 1985, to Thomas and Deborah (Herman) Harrigan in Traverse City, MI. Isaac was one of six children and the oldest son.
Isaac spent his childhood helping his dad and grandpa out on "the farm" cutting firewood, helping with building and construction projects, fixing cars and other random tasks, where he developed his passion of the outdoors. Whether it was at church, school, or with family and friends, Isaac was always there with a helping hand or offering support to those in need.
From a young age Isaac dreamed of working in law enforcement to help others. He fulfilled his childhood dream in 2007 when right out of NMC's Police Academy he was employed as a Sheriff Deputy for Mackinac County Sheriff's Department, where he worked for the past 17 years earning the respect and appreciation of the community. Isaac received several awards and medals in the time working for the department. He also continued his passion of helping others by becoming an EMT for Straits Area EMS in 2009. Isaac joined the Critical Incident Stress Management team and was a vital part of helping other first responders in the whole of Mackinac County. It was not uncommon to find him wondering the halls of St Ignace Area Schools bringing a positive law enforcement interaction with the students, greeting them with fist bumps or trying to learn the latest slang.
Isaac met the love of his life, Jessica, during high school, where he was instantly captivated by her. Changing his hallway route just to have a chance to walk near her. They married on September 15, 2007, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme, MI and were blessed to have two amazingly wonderful children.
Isaac was a devoted family man, proud father, and a loyal friend to many. He treasured creating lasting memories with Jessica and their children through bonfires, camping adventures, delicious meals, hunting, fishing, and cherished family gatherings.
Isaac is survived by his loving wife, Jessica, their children Jackson "Jack" and Lillian "Lilly", and their beloved German Shephard, Cadence. He is also survived by his parents Thomas & Deborah Harrigan; grandma Bernice (Kalchik) Herman; siblings Melinda (Jason) Fasel, Katherine (Ryan) Zimmerman, Bethany (Ryan) White, Rebekah (Brian) Bartman, and Edward (Kaitlynn Tokie) Harrigan; nieces and nephews Alexa and Trey Martin, McKade Fasel, Emily and Joshua Zimmerman, and Carson and Hunter White; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous friends and brothers & sisters in blue.
