Jane "Betty" Acker, 92, of Williamsburg, MI passed away on November 16, 2012, at Bortz Health Care.
Betty was born on January 15, 1920, to the late Ross and Georgia (Kesner) Holt in Mona, Montana. The family moved back to the Kesner farm in Acme, Michigan shortly after her birth. Betty graduated from Williamsburg High School. On May 1, 1945, Betty married the late Paul B. Acker. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1994.
Betty brought joy to others with her radiant smile and warm hugs. She was always looking for beauty, in others and in the world about her. She was quick to point it out wherever she found it and celebrated it in her poetry and photography. She enjoyed reading, playing piano, traveling, and corresponding with family and friends. She was the Whitewater Township Historical Society chairperson for many years, and served on the township election board.
Betty's family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her children, Kim M. Acker of Elkhart, Indiana, Valerie J. (Robert) Boucher of Port Huron, Michigan, Martha J. Acker of East Jordan, Michigan, and Paul D. (Mary) Acker of Williamsburg, Michigan. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Donald Fouch of Williamsburg, two sisters-in law: Mary (Rude) Holt of Suttons Bay, Michigan, and Rolene (Borgen) Holt of Cathedral City, California.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers, Karl W. Holt, Paul A. (Jean Englehardt) Holt, and Ross G. Holt and her dear sister, Anna Laura Fouch.
The family is very grateful to the caregivers at Bortz for the loving care they provided.
Honoring Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2:00PM in the basement of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
