Jacqueline Hunter

So often, we feel afraid because we believe we are alone and vulnerable in a frightening world.
But when we remember that we are surrounded by Angels who can help us in countless ways, our hearts reopen to the miracles of everyday life.


Jacquie was born to Christine and Henry Mletzko on August 15, 1933 in Nassau County, New York. She was raised by her aunts Tante Marie and Tante Betty after her mother passed away while she was a young girl.
Jacquie earned her Bachelor's of Arts Degree from Cortland University and her Masters degree from New York University.
Jacqueline was a teacher for 32 years and retired from Herricks Central School District on Long Island, NY.
Jacquie's first husband, Lars Clement Blomstrom passed away in 1981. Together they had three children Lars Blomstrom Jr, Ingrid Santee, and Christine Blomstrom who passed away in 1985. In 1991 Jacquie married Kenneth Adams Hunter in the Presbyterian church located in Southampton, NY. Jacquie and Ken enjoyed traveling with their children and grandchildren throughout the United States, Africa, Europe and Asia.
After retirement, Jacquie and Ken moved to Suttons Bay, Michigan. Jacqueline enjoyed canning fruits, making jam, baking bread, and was famous for her fruit pies, especially her apple pies which she graciously shared with family, friends and neighbors. Jacquie, in her spare time thoroughly enjoyed working with arts and crafts, that included sewing, quilling, knitting, quilting, pottery and was also a profuse reader.
Jacquie enjoyed knitting beautiful sweaters, hats, scarves and even socks for all her family.
Jacqueline was not one to sit idle and enjoyed gardening, was an accomplished tennis player and frequently entertained friends and family.
Jacqueline will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Jacquie is survived by her husband Ken, daughter Ingrid Santee, son Lars Blomstrom, grandchildren Michael (Kristen) Santee, Christopher Santee, and Kristen Blomstrom and many friends as well.
A memorial service celebrating Jacquie's life will be held on Saturday April 9, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Presbyterian Church in Traverse City. She will be interred at the Calverton Cemetery on Long Island, New York at a later date.
