Traverse City - Jacqueline Louise Laing, 90, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on August 13, 2015 at Munson Medical Center.
Jacqueline was born on February 12, 1925 in Detroit to the late Leslie Kenneth and Carolyn Louise (Meyers) Thome.
On April 21, 1951, Jacqueline married John "Jack" Alexander Laing in Detroit. After living and raising their family in Grand Rapids, they moved to Interlochen where they ran the True Value Hardware Store, serving their community for many years. They also were members of Central United Methodist Church. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage before he passed away in 2012.
In her spare time Jacqueline loved to cook, was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed flowers. She also liked to read and had a wonderful eye for interior design.
Jacqueline is survived by her daughters Leslie and Susan; grandson John; and sister Carol (Gordon) Pierce.
A visitation for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, August 19, from 3 - 5 pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funereal Home. In Lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be directed to your favorite charity or the Traverse City Botanical Gardens.
