Jerry Elliott, "Jake" 80, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at his bedside on December 31, 2020, after an 8-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Jerry was born on May 26, 1940 in Traverse City on a farm to the late William and Esther (Robinson) Elliott.
On May 19, 1960 in Muskegon Michigan he married Dianne Whiteford. They spent 60 wonderful years together with their family and they enjoyed traveling.Some of the most treasured times were exploring beautiful Leelanau County. They also enjoyed their daily routine of breakfast at Big Boy where they met many new friends.
Jerry was gainfully employed as a Master Plumber with Wares & Sons Mechanical Contractor until retirement when he was in his 50's. Post retirement he loved the outdoors, especially hunting,seasonal fishing, snowmobiling, dirt biking. He was a man that always needed a project and instilled strong work ethics and values into all of his children. He was noted as the best dad and will be significantly missed.
He is survived by his wife Dianne, his children; Sherry (Michael) McAdams of Traverse City, and Douglas (Sally) Elliott of Cedar MI, Lynne Elliott of Grand Rapids, MI, Grandchildren; Eric Elliott, Brett and (Brenda) McAdams, Nikki McAdams, Kayla Elliott and Madison Elliott, as well as great grandchildren Jakob Elliott and Emma McAdams and sister Barbara Rokos of Hartford MI, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Siblings William (Diane) Elliott, David (Wanda) Elliott, Ann(James) Young, Brother in law Edward Rokos, Sister in law,Jeanne Whiteford.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy may wish to contribute to Heartland Hospice of Traverse City in Jerry's honor.
The family will be privately gathering to celebrate Jerry's life.
