TRAVERSE CITY — James Lowell Baggerly, 76, of Traverse City, passed away June 13, 2010, at his home. James was born Feb. 24, 1934, in Coldwater, to the late Leon and Alice (Green) Baggerly. He honorably served at the Empire Air Force Station from 1953 to 1955 and one year in the Air Force in Morocco, North Africa. After his time in the service he married Rosela E. Stearns on Sept. 24, 1960, in Traverse City. James worked diligently at the State Hospital for 34 years. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, history, reading, traveling and spending time at the Senior Center.Surviving James are his wife, Rosela; children, Scott (Chonda) Baggerly of Traverse City and Carol Joellen Baggerly of Grand Rapids; two sisters, JoAnn (Dean) Dygert of Battle Creek and Jeanie (Bill) Milnes of Coldwater; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and two cats, Brandy and Peaches. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens at a later date.Memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army or the humane society.
