James Keith Blazaitis, 70, of Cedar, passed away Wednesday November 16, 2022 at home with his loved ones.
Jim was born October 2, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan to the late James F. And Eleanor O. (Ferencak) Blazaitis.
Jim grew up in Livonia, Michigan. In 1970, he graduated from Franklin High School. After graduating, he attended Michigan State University. However, prior to graduating, he was drafted into military service in 1972.
Jim served in the Army and was stationed in Augsburg, Germany, during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged in 1974.
After his honorable discharge, he moved back to Michigan, where he resided during the majority of his life, living with his family.
In 1993, he moved up to the Traverse City area, enjoying the region. However, in 2004 he moved back to Livonia, Michigan to be the primary caregiver of his Father who passed away in April of 2020. In that same year, Jim moved back up north to live with his daughter, Carianne and her family in Cedar, Michigan. He thoroughly enjoyed his role as Papa. His pride and love was apparent anytime he spoke about his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Carianne (Rocco) Franco and Regan (Andrew) Urban. Six grandchildren; Hallie, Sidonia, Rocco and Ryelyn Franco, and Maleah and Ethan Urban. His Siblings;Kenneth (Barbara) Blazaitis, Keith (Karen) Blazaitis and Debra Blazaitis, as well as many other family members and friends.
Jim was very much loved and will be missed.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James and Eleanor Blazaitis.
