TRAVERSE CITY — James H. "Jim" Douglas, 72, of Traverse City, formerly of Sault Saint Marie, passed away Monday morning, March 28, 2011, at his home. Born Dec. 29, 1938, in Leonard, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Grace Audrey (Harris) Douglas. Jim faithfully served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged after 20 years of dedicated service.He is survived by his children, James (Crystal) Douglas, of Oakland, Maine, Kevin (Janet) Douglas, of Interlochen, Melissa (Larry) Elliott, of Jasper, and Eric Douglas, of Ida; their mother, Ivy (David) Leach, of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Eloise, Cameron, Jordan (Laura), Spencer, Larissa, Maya and Gavin; siblings, Wesley (Linda) Douglas, of Leonard, and Ruthann (Warren) Kazmir, of Grayling; along with many nieces and nephews.Memorial services with military honors under the auspice of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Friday, April 1, 2011, at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service.In remembrance of Jim, memorials may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation, PO Box 2260, Traverse City, MI 49685-2260.Kindly share your memories with the family on their online guestbook at
