James Fenton, age 77, of Traverse City, passed away at the Villa in Traverse City on May 5, 2021 with family members present.
Jim was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 12, 1944 to the late Charles Fenton and Virginia (Murray) Fenton.
He graduated from Southern High School in Louisville and attended Indiana University. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an electronic technician at Empire AFB, having been in the Drum and Bugle Corp while in Biloxi, Mississippi.
He married Judy Stowe on March 16, 1968 in Traverse City. He worked for the Traverse City Area Public Schools, Amoco Oil Company and B.P. Oil in Kalkaska, Oklahoma and Indiana returning to their home in Traverse City in 2002.
Jim obtained an amateur radio license as a teenager and was a long time member of the Cherryland Amateur Radio Club. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Traverse City.
He is survived by his wife Judy, son Bill (Sandra), daughter Joan, mother Virginia, grandchildren Sarah and Casey, sister Joan and brother Donald. Also brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
