James Lee Hegedus

March 30, 1945 — January 28, 2025

James Lee Hegedus, age 79, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at his home.

Jim was a Residential Builder and Draftsman in Bellaire for many years and purchased and developed many properties throughout his career. He was a talented artist and woods craftsman, who also enjoyed restoring muscle and antique cars, leaded glass, sandblasting, and golfing. Above all, Jim's family will remember his generosity of his talents and time, his greatest talent being problem solving. His son recently said, "before Google, there was Dad."

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore & Jean (Albert) Hegedus; and brothers-in-law, Carl Masino, and Rob Kettlewell.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Donna Hegedus; sons, Cliff Hegedus, Jeff (Kim) Hegedus; granddaughters, Holli Hegedus, Ali Hegedus; step grandchildren, Ashley Henry, Cole Henry; 4 great grandchildren, Landon, Mason, Ava, Everley; sisters, Sandra (Al) Luna, Jill (Robert) Cohen; siblings-in-law, Carmen Kettlewell, Jim (Lisa) Masino; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1003 S. Maple St. Traverse City. Family will welcome visitors an hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Memorial contributions may be given in Jim's honor to Trinity Lutheran Church.
