James "Jim" Allyn Bemister

James (Jim) Bemister, age 71, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026.

James was born on February 25, 1955, in Jackson, Michigan, to James and Nancy (nee Darling) Bemister. He was a devoted father, loving partner, and friend to many.

Jim had an appreciation for the good things in life. He enjoyed time spent on the water boating, hitting the trails snowmobiling, soaking up the sunshine, and relaxing with a good glass of wine. He was also a connoisseur of all things food and drink and took great pride in cooking delicious meals for those he loved on his Weber Grills. He more recently appreciated spending his winters in Florida with Cindy, cruising around on his Vespa and golf cart.

Above all, Jim loved spending time with those close to him and enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life enjoyable.

James is survived by his children, Rebekah (late Tom) Johnson and Aaron Bemister; his longtime girlfriend, Cindy Hull. One of his most beloved companions was his Goldendoodle, Bo, who was never far from his side and held a very special place in Jim’s heart.

James will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the life he lived, the people he cared for, and the many good times shared along the way.
