James "Jim" Kulczyk

August 16, 1948 — September 27, 2016

Traverse City – James A. Kulczyk, age 68, of Traverse City passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from complications resulting from his exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. He was surrounded by the loving arms of his wife, daughter, and sisters.
Jim was born August 16, 1948 to Alexander and Irene (Staniszewski) Kulcyzk, in Linwood, MI. Jim worked for General Motors until he was drafted into the Army in 1968, and was part of the first aviation brigade, where he was a crew chief for the 166th aviation detachment. Following his discharge from the Army, he served with the Peace Corps in Morocco. He worked as a radiology manager at Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma, MI and as an account manager for Eastman Kodak's Health Imaging Division.
Jim married his wife, Caroline (Lee) Kulczyk, December 22, 1995, in Frankenmuth, MI.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline, daughter; Katherine Lacy; sisters: Katherine (John) Kaul, Margaret (Mark) Suminski, and Madeline (Chris) Chulumovich; and brother, David (Donna) Kulczyk. Also surviving Jim are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many, many dear friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Carl Kulczyk.
We, his family, extend special thanks to Munson's Vascular Access Team; staff of B4, C4, and the Munson Hospice House; as well as Dr. Kohler, Nate and Melanie.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Jim's life at Little Bohemia for a memorial lunch on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
