Obituary

Jim McIntyre

Jim McIntyre had a good life. He used the word "spectacular" and was a man who chose his words carefully. "I did everything I wanted to do," he said toward the end-which came on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at age 70.

Jim made his living in marketing and made his life in friendships, nature, travel, golf, and story-telling. He was a mentor to many in the field of advertising and his deep voice is the narrative pulse behind countless media campaigns. He had a code of honor about doing good work and playing by the rules-on the turf and in the deer blind.

Above all, Jim spoke his mind and spoke his heart. He could be wonderfully irreverent and deeply reverent, often in the same conversation. Jim also knew suffering-especially the early death of his son Tim and the struggles of his son Danny. When asked what kept him going, he said, "There's always something to look forward to." Whether it was lunch with a friend, a trip to Alaska, a new slogan, or a dry martini with his wife at the end of the day. He often said he was most grateful for being born in America and for marrying Joane.

"Cherish every minute," Jim insisted and showed us how to do it. His life was a call to action-to excellence, enthusiasm, and abiding love. In a word, "Spectacular."

Jim's employment included: AT&T, Hilltop Advertising, Archway Cookies, Knorr Marketing
and Loon River Productions.

He is survived by his wife, Joane (Kennedy) McIntyre, son Daniel David McIntyre; grandsons Jaime McIntyre and Shaun McIntyre; Aunt MaryLou Wyckoff; and Uncle William Wyckoff. He was preceded in death by his father William McIntyre, mother Jean McIntyre, son Tim McIntyre.
