James "Jim" M. Veda, 69, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Munson Medical Center surrounded by loving family.

Jim was born in Detroit on June 29, 1949 to parents Stephen and Mildred (Foster) Veda. In 1981, Jim married his sweetheart Leslie Ann Adair at Ste. Anne de Détroit Catholic Church. Jim worked as a police officer and retired from the Detroit Police Department. The family then moved to Traverse City, where Jim found enjoyment working with the Record-Eagle Newspaper.

Jim is survived by his wife Leslie; children: Karl (Shanissa)and Allen (Icia); grandchildren: Alicia, Allen Jr., Karl Jr., Tonique, and Akheem; and brother Ed. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior. Memorials in Jim's name may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
