James "Jim" Roy Gilson, age 91, passed away on November 9, 2024 in Traverse City.

Jim was born on June 9, 1933 in Warren, Pennsylvania, to LeRoy C. and Barbara A. (Edinger) Gilson. Jim graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked for Dow Chemical and retired in 1991. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, awaiting fishing and hunting seasons to begin, and he also enjoyed gardening. He liked building and designed and finished many home projects over the years. Jim was a Little League Coach and volunteered for his church.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Veeck) Gilson, whom he married in 1956; daughters Jean M. (Jeffrey) Baumann, and Barbara D. Gilson. Grandson, Caulden W. Baumann; Jim's sister, Judy A. (Lloyd) Harrison, nieces Lisa (Gary) Burns, and Lori (Rory) Colvin, and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents and daughter, Mary A. Gilson.

Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in the Oakwood Catholic Cemetery in Traverse City. Jim was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy: https://www.gtrlc.org/about/support-the-work-of-the-conservancy/
