Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret "Jane" Bluhm, age 91, of Lake Ann, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, after a short illness, surrounded by her family.

Jane was born in Detroit, MI on October 16th, 1934 to Julius and Gwendolyn Tragge. She was a proud alumna of Eastern Michigan University, member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, Red Hat Society and longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Jane married the boy next door and love of her life, Allen Bluhm, on August 18th, 1956 in Detroit. They relocated to Lake Ann in 1966. Jane and Allen shared 64 wonderful years full of love, family, travel and adventure before his passing in 2021. Together they raised three children who Jane ensured were always happy, healthy and cared for. Her family was her greatest joy in life. Jane and Allen went on to welcome 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Jane spent many years as a teacher and substitute at Platte River Elementary School before later serving as Almira Township Clerk, a position she held until her retirement in 1996. Jane and Allen spent their retirement traveling the world. They also spent their winters in New Port Richey, Florida where they were very active in their closeknit community. Jane enjoyed many hobbies including baking, needlework and gardening. She was also a voracious reader.

Jane was deeply rooted in tradition and sentiment. She meticulously planned every family gathering and ensured no holiday, birthday, anniversary or achievement went unacknowledged. Every card, gift or memento she ever gave had a reason or a story behind it. To say she was thoughtful is an understatement.

Jane is survived by her daughters Cheryl (Dennis) Bueche of Flushing, Sharon (Bruce) Bennett of Traverse City and son Daryl (Lisa) Bluhm of Interlochen; grandchildren Catheryn (Nathan) Jones of Mount Pleasant, Michael Bueche of Flushing, Megan (Tyson) Powers of Gladstone, Matthew Bennett of Traverse City, Jared (Markaela) Bluhm of Cadillac and Taylor Bluhm of Interlochen; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors in Lake Ann and New Port Richey.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allen, her parents and her beloved sister, Wilma "Billie" Karhu.

A Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 6th at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 5th at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City and at the church from 10:00 AM Thursday, November 6th until the time of the service at 11:00am. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Munson Medical Center for their exceptional care of our mother and grandmother in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to either Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Almira Historical Society.
