Janet M. Blake, 73, of Maple City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Autumnwood of McBain. Janet Largent, the youngest of seven, was born on January 17, 1947 in Traverse City to the late Alfred and Cecilia (Long) Largent. She married the love of her life, George Blake. He preceded her in death. Janet graduated from St. Francis High School. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Maple City. Janet had been employed with Montgomery Ward and later, as an office manager, with Dr. Thomas, a chiropractor, for many years. Janet had a wonderful sense of humor and she always had a joke to tell. She had a gift of music, playing many instruments including the guitar, accordion and trumpet. She enjoyed woodworking, performing magic, genealogy, hunting and being outdoors. She loved animals and over the course of her life rescued many of her pets. Janet will always be remembered as a helpful and caring person, as she had a great love for everyone she met.
Janet is survived by two sisters, Theresa (Jerry) Kuhlman and Joan Thayer as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, James Largent, Alfred "Bud" Largent, Thomas Largent and Barbara Brief.
Friends are welcome to visit with Janet's family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49684. The family will pray the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 1025 S. Union Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Rite of Committal will follow at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery.
