TRAVERSE CITY — Janet Louise Bouchey, 74, of Traverse City, passed away April 14, 2011, at Munson Hospice House. Janet was born Nov. 12, 1936, in Detroit to the late Leo and Anna (Bakos) Sumner. Janet was a devout parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and loved her faith. In her spare time, she loved to go on hikes and walk on the beach. Janet was a wonderful cook and enjoyed reading and sharing books with her friends and family. She loved spending time with her friends and family and looked forward to the gatherings they had. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, who passed away in 2009; her parents; and father-in-law Joseph Bouchey.Janet is survived by her four sons, Anthony Bouchey, Christopher (Suzanne) Bouchey, Stephen (Lorri) Bouchey and George Bouchey; grandchildren Lisa (Ben) Flees, Laura (Kurt) Shubert, Michael Bouchey, Stephen (Claudia) Bouchey, Rachel Bouchey and Britney Bouchey; great-grandchildren Kurtis York, Madison Shubert, Zachary Schubert and David Schubert; siblings, Steve (Debbi) Sumner, Michael (Lana) Sumner, Paul (Donna) Sumner, Carol (Rico) Salerno and Maryann Sumner; mother-in-law Bernice (LaDrig) Bouchey; sister-in-law Jean Marie (John) Bakos; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with a wake service to be held at 7 p.m.A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Don Geyman officiating. A small luncheon will be served following the service. Burial will take place at St. Mary's of Hannah Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Janet may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Munson Hospice House or to the Carmelite Monastery.
