Janet Marie Godfrey, 96, of Traverse City passed away peacefully with family by her side on December 13, 2023.

Janet was born on March 30, 1927 in Buffalo, NY to the late Edward T. and Ruth (Weppner) Regan.

On January 7, 1950, she married James Richard Godfrey in Detroit and they were blessed with six children.

She loved camping, bowling, playing cards, working on jigsaw puzzles and pinochle. She also loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Janet had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a dessert she didn't like.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim; daughter Catherine; brother Ken; sister Doris; son-in-law Carl; daughter-in-law Connie; and twin grandsons James and Thomas Bembeneck.

Janet is survived by her children, Christine DeGrandchamp, Denise (Phillip) Stommel, James (Robin) Godfrey, Cindy (Steve) Melichar and Steve Godfrey; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and sisters-in-law Mary Regan O'Neil and Margaret Laitala; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 1 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12 noon.
