Janet Lee Petty, 86, passed away on Saturday, June 27th 2015 at home with her husband by her side.

Janet was born on September 16th, 1928 in Dennison, Ohio to Alvin and Leota (Hartman) Burroway. On January 8th, 1949, she married Ed Petty at Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison, Ohio.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her Catholic faith was very strong. In Janet's early years of marriage, she worked as a parish secretary in Ohio. But, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, raising her six children, caring for her husband and grandchildren and tending to her home. After her children were grown, she worked side by side with Ed for twenty years in the real estate business. Janet will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Janet is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ed, son, Eddy, daughters, Mari (Mark) Scott, Kim (Michael) Casciano, Pennie (Patrick) O'Brien, Stacey (Martin) Gallagher, grandchildren, Jessica, Abbey, Sam, Sadie, Chelsea, Brett, Kristie, Tony, Shea, Kaitlyn, Jack, Kyle, Daniel, Julia and Laura, great grandchildren, Austin and Grace, son-in-law, Ed Walters, sister-in-law, Joan Unger, brothers-in-law, Bill Petty and George Deibel and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bill Burroway, sister, Marge Schmidt and daughter, Jan Walters.

A funeral mass will be celebrated by Reverend Kenneth Stachnik on Friday, July 3rd, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Catholic Church with a visitation held one hour prior. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Isadore.

Memorials may be directed to the Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools, the American Cancer Society, or the Father Fred Foundation.
