Janet Ann Sharpe

Traverse City - Janet Ann Sharpe, 85, of Traverse City passed away October 4, 2021 at Tendercare.

Janet was born in Hastings on March 9, 1927 to the late Rev. Leason and Edith (Nelson) Sharpe, a Presbyterian Minister.

Janet was one of four children, Estelle Jackson, 87 of Richmond, VA, a newspaper reporter, Marjorie Sharpe Hartnett, 83, a clinical social worker, and her brother Bob who preceded her in death in 1997. He was a manager.

Janet attended elementary school and Morgan Park High School in Chicago. The family then moved to Hastings. She attended Kalamazoo College where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1949. She later obtained her Master's Degree in Education from Michigan State University.

Janet loved the out doors and the lakes. She loved animals; dogs and cats, especially cats. She taught elementary school and took pride in the fact that she was a good teacher. She loved her children and they loved her. Her last years were troubled and she had some difficult times but during her years at Tendercare, the nurses took excellent care of her and nurtured her. They all said she always had a smile for them. She had that perpetual sweetness about her. We will miss her basic goodness and kindness. From when she was a little girl, she loved being with her family, especially her cousins Herbie and Louise.
