Janet Ann Van De Bogart, 64, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2017 at Munson Medical Center.
Janet was born August 23, 1952 to Arthur and Theresa (Ghastin) Richards. She grew up in Traverse City, graduated from St. Francis High School and from Northwestern Michigan College as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
On June 30, 1992, she married William Van De Bogart in St. Ignace, who survives.
Janet was loved and respected by her co-workers at both Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital and Munson Medical Center during her 40 year nursing career. She enjoyed raising animals on the farm with her husband, as well as watching the wildlife that thrived around their home. Janet and Bill enjoyed winters spent with their many friends in Lakeland, FL.
In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her daughter Amy Ransom of Tucson, AZ and 5 grandchildren; Blake (Sarah) Ransom, David, Kevin and Wyatt Ransom and Kayla Cox. She is also survived by her brothers Tom (Jackie) Richards and Paul (Jane) Richards all of Traverse City and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Theresa; her older brother Jeffrey and her stepson, Kevin Van De Bogart.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20 at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens with Deacon Rene Hoenscheid officiating.
The family has asked that memorial contributions by directed to the Munson Diabetes Education/Initiative, c/o Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation, 1150 Medical Campus Drive, Traverse City, MI 49684
