Traverse City - Janice M Tracy, at the age of 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in her home on Monday, September 1, 2014. She was born on Sunday, February 11, 1934 to L. G. and Inez Belle (Probst) Reeves of North Star, Michigan She was raised on the family farm in Ithaca, Michigan.

As she grew up, Jann worked on the family farm, was a Nanny, and served ice cream at the dairy in Ithaca. She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1952 and went on to get her teaching certificate at the County Normal. She taught K-8 grades at the Dodge School in Greenville and also taught in Ithaca.

Jann married her high school sweetheart, Russell D. Tracy on Sunday, June 26, 1955. She and Russ built their first home in Ithaca and started their family with daughters Teresa Jann and Darla Ann. Jann was active in the Jaycees, Bridge Club and was a Youth Group Leader at the Presbyterian Church in both Ithaca and Traverse City. They moved to Traverse City in 1964, when Russ transferred to the Record Eagle from the Gratiot County Herald.

Jann was a leader for the Girl Scouts, a softball coach and a grade school room parent. She and Russ purchased Kratochvil Real Estate and changed the name to Traverse City Realty. Later she worked for Real Estate One. They loved to hop in the car and just explore the area, always stopping somewhere for a cup of coffee and a piece of pie. She retired from Pranges (Younkers) where she was the Assistant Manager of Accessories. She loved her jewelry. Russ and Jann loved to camp and play cards with friends. Jann coordinated the donation of food and desserts for church funeral gatherings and helped collate the church bulletins. She would spend time with her daughters shopping and doing crafts. She was an outstanding role model for the perfect Mom. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and attend their dance and theatre productions. She always looked forward to her annual "Sister's Trips". Jann loved to laugh.

Jann was loved by her family and friends for her great sense of humor and giving spirit. Her faith in the Lord gave her great comfort. She greatly appreciated tender care received and friendships she developed at Traverse Victorian Senior Living with the care team, residents and Munson Hospice.

Jann is survived by her daughters Teresa (Steven) Iacovoni and Darla (Edward) Corbe; her grandchildren Dante Iacovoni, Allison and Anna Corbe; her sisters Isabelle Sinko, Phyllis Henney, Colene Moore and Judy Moomey Brown; her sisters in law, Patty Reeves, Millie Reeves, Carol Tracy and Peggy (Tracy) Attenberger; her brothers in law Donald Ogden, Wayne Henny, Marvin Stoneman and Stan Attenberger; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russ and her parents; her sister Wanita Ogden; her brothers J. B. and LaVerne Reeves; her sister in law Frances (Tracy) Stoneman; her brothers in law Edward Sinko, Alvin Moore, Robert Brown, Kenneth Moomey, William Tracy, and Donald Tracy; many cousins; a niece and nephews.

Friends and family may gather together for a time of visitation which will take place Friday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. until noon at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster Rd., Traverse City. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon immediately following the visitation. There will be a luncheon at the church immediately following the memorial service. The family would ask that memorial contributions be directed to The Presbyterian Church Prayer Garden Fund.
