Jayson William Hoogeveen, a beloved son, brother, nephew and friend to all, entered into eternal life on September 3, 2024. Our little buddy was 8 years old and he was taken from us way too soon. Our hearts are broken.
Jayson was born on January 30, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was the beloved son of Kimberly Ann Gilbert and Jxn Txn Hoogeveen. He was an awesome little brother to his big brother Jxn; they were best friends. He was also loved by his big sisters Chanel and Kimberly who he often played practical jokes on. He loved when they cooked for him. He adored his baby sister Isabel and was so proud to be a big brother. He was raised by his mom; he was her little shadow, and step dad Jerry Ramirez whom he affectionately called JE. They were joined at the hip and had so much fun doing everything together. Jayson is and always will be the love of his momma's life.
Jayson, also known as JJ, was going into third grade. He loved to play flag football and basketball. He also liked to wrestle and go dirt biking. He loved the water and enjoyed fishing and swimming at the beach with his family. When he was 7, he was so proud to catch a big fish in a fishing competition. When he wasn't outside, he liked to play roblox and fortnite on his Nintendo switch. He was also known to sneak onto his big brothers playstation any chance he could get. He was always thinking of others and made sure to include all of his peers and teammates so no one felt left out. He loved building and he could create cool things out of Legos. He even shared with his mom that he wanted to be a builder one day. He was truly Heaven sent and brought so much light and life into this world. JJ, we will always love you. We will miss you and you will never be forgotten.
Jayson was preceded in death by his maternal grandpa William Gilbert, paternal grandma Michelle Hoogeveen and uncle Sy Hoogeveen.
Jayson will always be loved and remembered by his mom Kimberly; step dad Jerry Ramirez; biological father Jxn Hoogeveen; siblings Jxn, Chanel, Kim and Isabel; maternal grandma Caroline Gilbert; paternal grandpa Larry Lake; Jerry's parents Jerry and Polly Ramirez Sr.; aunts and uncles William Gilbert, Michael (Stephanie) Gilbert, Paulette Cypher, Eric (Jennifer) Gilbert, Melissa (John) Salvatore III, Andrea (Justin) Stickney, Julie Gilbert, Abigail Ramirez, Brian (Kasha) Ramirez, Gabby Ramirez, and Cam Romanelli, Ryan, Sarin, Axel, Jxn, Sy, Ray and Xyz Hoogeveen; countless cousins and many friends.
