Jean D. Brakel, age 93, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 4th, 2023.
She was born March 7, 1930, in Buckley MI, the daughter of Pietro and Jaunita Sanuto. She married
Erwin C. Brakel on August 28th, 1949 at St. Mary's Hannah church. They celebrated 59 years of marriage
until Erwin's passing in 2008. Jean was a lifelong catholic and loved her lord Jesus Christ.

After her family had grown she worked at St. Mary's Hannah school and rectory. She also worked at
Boone's Long Lake Inn as their bookkeeper for many years. After retiring Erwin and Jean moved to
Cedarville in Michigan's UP. After Erwin's passing she moved back to Traverse City to be closer to her family.

Jean is the mother of six children, Ron (Kathy), Bev (Terry) Montgomery, Tony (Donna), Marianne (deceased)
Karen (Jeff) Greilick, Jay (Ann), many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends and
family.

A private Catholic Mass of burial has taken place.
