Obituary

Jean York Cook, 95, of Torch Lake Township, MI passed away on December 5, 2021 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.

Jean was born on August 27, 1926 in Wyandotte, MI to the late Harry and Pauline (Fatig) York. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944 and worked for more than 30 years at Wyandotte Chemicals/BASF. She married the late William (Bill) Cook and raised their two boys in Wyandotte until 1982 when she took a job transfer to Parsippany, NJ with BASF. Jean retired to Charlotte, NC where she was very active with her church, community, quilting and playing bridge.

After moving back to MI, she was a member of the New Hope Community Church in Williamsburg. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, puzzles and being outdoors. She went Jet Skiing on her 90th birthday and boating on her 95th. Jean always had a wonderful sense of adventure and loved a good challenge.

Surviving Jean are her sons, Robert "Bob" (Rita) Cook of Eastport, MI and Lawrence (Leslie) Cook of Arrington, TN; three grandchildren Lynn Harder, Andrew Cook, and Michelle Clements and five great grandchildren.

Private family services will take place at a later time. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be sent to New Hope Community Church, 5100 Bethesda Court, Williamsburg, MI 49690 for "SINGLE MOMMS".
