Jean Kneer, 80, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2024 at Munson Medical Center.
Jean was born on February 26, 1944 in Wasco, California to the late Raymond A. and Inice L. (Moore) Maxwell.
On May 17, 1963 she married Jerry B. Kneer in Idaho. They began their family in California and then moved to Michigan in the early 1970's.
Jean was a gifted hair stylist. She also worked at Sara Lee, Golden Fowler, and the Casino. She retired in her early 60's and always kept busy. She enjoyed reading, painting, and crossword puzzles. She also loved to go out on the boat, hunt morel mushrooms, and garden. She was a big fan of movies and loved Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and the Marvel collection.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Jerry; brother Chet Maxwell; and good friend and neighbor Sue Maglia.
Jean is survived by her sons Jerry B. Kneer Jr; Chris Kneer; Jeffrey Kneer; grandchildren Lauren (Frank) Moser, Dani (Fiancé Jeff Pini) Kneer, Leanne Kneer, and Cody Kneer; and brother Allen Maxwell.
The funeral service will be held at a later undetermined date at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Botanical Gardens.
