TRAVERSE CITY — Jean B. Mackenroth, 93, of Traverse City, died Dec. 26, 2010, at North Woods Nursing Center in Farwell.Jean was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Billings, Mont., to the late Byron and Jaqueline (Cummings) Baldwin. She married Richard (Dick) Mackenroth in 1937, and spent many years in Livingston Co., moving to Traverse City in 1961. Jean was a very active member of First Church of Christ Scientist. After retiring, Jean sang with the Sweet Adelines, was a member of Northwestern MI Artists and Craftsmen, worked at Community Nursery School, and volunteered for numerous area organizations including the Humane Society and RSVP, and she was "the cookie lady" for TYSO for several years.Jean is survived by her daughters, Diana (Ron) Schreer and Pam (David) Bowers; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her son, Richard Jr. (Duke); daughter-in-law, Nancy Mackenroth; and grandson, Brian Bowers.A memorial service, to be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, is tentatively set for April 16, 2011.In lieu of monetary donations or flowers, the family suggests that people honor Jean by doing a kind deed, volunteering, helping a friend, baking cookies for the T.
