TRAVERSE CITY - Jean F. Neumann, age 90, of Traverse City passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Villa at Traverse Point in Traverse City. Jean was born in Kasson Township on June 17, 1930 to the late Cory and Fannie (Bartunek) Smith.
Jean was an avid sewer where she sewed and made stuffed animals for all of her friends and family. Jean and her husband Fred spent years processing maple syrup and selling it nationwide.
Jean is survived by her children; Robert (Vivian) Neumann, Gerald (Jan) Neumann, Rudy (Jan) Neumann, Kathy (Kevin) McKinley, Fred (Tracie) Neumann, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and siblings, Dorothy Rohde, and Jess Smith.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred, siblings; Evelyn Carlson, Helen "June" Morton, Beulah (Smith) Thayer, Eleanor Revolt, Marie Whitt, Ben Wilsey, Leonard Wilsey, and Raymond Wilsey.
A funeral service celebrating Jean's life will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Deacon Rene Hoenscheid will officiate. Jean will be laid to rest at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
