Jean Northrup, 91, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at her home on July 22, 2023.
Jean was born on November 6, 1932 in Rolla, MO to the late Robert Anthony and Laura (Mueller) VanWinkle.
On September 11, 1952, she married Elvin Austin "Mike" Northrup in Rolla, MO.
Jean worked for Woolworths for many years. She was also a devoted member of the Oldsmobile Club of Michigan. She loved going to the Packard Proving Grounds for car shows. In her free time she also enjoyed riding motorcycles, cars and reading. One of her favorite cars, which happened to be her first was a 1948 Club Coupe, named Ruby.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael and brother-in-law Ruel McPherson.
Jean was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by her daughter Mary (William) Hance, "adopted son" Walter Grabowski; siblings Gail McPherson, Tauline (Douglas) Flemiken and Harry (Nancy) Goldberg; and "granddaughter" Bridget Payberg.
Jean will be laid to rest in Rolla, Missouri.
