Jean Peppler Waterstripe

Jean was born November 10, 1929 in Mayfield, MI to Blanche M. (Wright) and Thomas R. Peppler. She attended Oak Park School, and graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1948. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. In 1962, she graduated from Adrian College. Jean married Robert E. Waterstripe in Traverse City, MI on August 31, 1962. The Waterstripes resided in Edinboro, Pennsylvania from 1969 to 1989, where Jean worked as a bookkeeper for University Services Inc., and Robert pursued a career in music and college teaching at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. After retiring in 1989, they returned to Traverse City. Jean enjoyed music, skiing, bird-feeding, and sharing this beautiful area with friends.
Jean is survived by her brother Richard (May) Purvis of Traverse City, MI, sister-in-law Doris (Frank) Purvis, and by her children Robert F. (Kelly) Waterstripe of Sebastian, FL, Mary (Leonard) David of Sandusky, OH and Kirk (Melissa) Waterstripe of Traverse City, MI, and by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank Purvis, and by her husband Robert (2007).
A memorial service will be held at Central United Methodist Church, Traverse City, MI, on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11 a.m.. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., and a light luncheon reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, Jean would have appreciated memorial funds be donated to H.A.N.D.D.S. to the Rescue, P.O. Box 1953, Traverse City, MI 49685 ( www.handdstotherescue.com/ ), or to the Northwestern Michigan College Children's Choir, c/o NMC Foundation, 1701 E. Front St., Traverse City, MI 49686.
