TRAVERSE CITY —
Jeana Marie O'Kane, 46, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 8, 2012.
Born on Oct. 15, 1965, in Grand Rapids, she was the daughter of Joan and John Wambold. She married Rory O'Kane, of Ireland, in 1992 in Traverse City.
Jeana attended Traverse City public schools and graduated from Traverse City Senior High in 1983, where she was a member of the marching band. She received her teaching degree from Armstrong State University in Savannah, Ga.
Jeana desired to better the world through many hours spent volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Mothers in Christ and Bortz Health Care.
Her great love for her own children extended to Central Grade School, where she dedicated countless hours in the classrooms and sub sales; she will be especially remembered for renovating the playground into a great space that kids will enjoy for years to come.
Jeana had a huge heart and an ability to light up a room with her wit and amazing sense of humor. She also loved sports and was one of U of M's biggest fans.
She will be forever missed by all of those who had the good fortune of knowing her.
Jeana is survived by her husband, Rory; her three children, Clare, Maura and John O'Kane; her mother, Joan Wambold; brothers, Joe (Jeannine) Wambold and John (Conni) Wambold; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Wambold; and brother, Jay Wambold.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Church. A celebration of Jeana's life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church Friday, Jan; 13, at 11 a.m.
