Traverse City - Jeanne Harbold, 78, of Traverse City passed away June 3, 2015 at Munson Medical Center.
Jeanne was born on January 28, 1937 in Homewood, IL to the late George Frederick and Dorthea (Mohr) Thies.
On March 7, 1964 Jeanne married Donald Eugene Harbold in Homewood, IL. They made their home in Grosse Pointe Park prior to moving to Traverse City in 1995.
Jeanne was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Maritime Heritage Alliance, former president of the Traverse City Newcomers Club, and volunteer with United Way. Most recently, Jeanne worked at Faithlink. In her spare time, Jeanne enjoyed singing in the church choir, sewing, baking, and spending time outdoors skiing, hiking, and biking. Jeanne was a very giving person and loved to laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 51 years Don, daughter Julie (Tony) Aliaga of Easley, S.C., son Daniel (Jennifer) Harbold of Chicago, grandchildren Isaac, Joshua, Lauren, Benjamin, Frannie and Katie; brother George (Charlotte) Thies of Oaklawn, IL, and sister-in-law Tina Theis.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, sister Anita Meyer, twin brother John Thies, and brother-in-law Herbert Meyer.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 6 - 8 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held at 3 pm with visitation beginning at 2 pm at Central United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 7, 2015. Pastor Chris Lane will lead the service of remembrance.
Memorial contributions in memory of Jeanne may be directed to Central United Methodist Church or to Heifer International which she supported for many years.
