Jeannette A. Hunt's Obituary
Suttons Bay - Jeannette A. Hunt, 95, of Northport passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Tendercare Health Center of Leelanau in Suttons Bay.
Jeannette was born on February 2, 1917 to the late Robert and Martha (VanOrden) Loree in Lansing, MI.
Jeannette enrolled in Nursing at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse with an interest in pediatric nursing. Jeannette immediately served her country as a nurse with the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific Campaign. After the war she furthered her education at Michigan State University and eventually taught pediatric nursing at the University of Michigan. She then moved to Midland, Michigan and continues her Nursing service for Dr. Pike (an eye, ear, nose, and throat specialist) until her retirement in 1981.
Jeannette entered into marriage with Robert A. Hunt on August 27, 1952 in Midland, Michigan. They spent several summers in Northport and then moved there permanently from Midland in 1981. Jeannette became a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church and the Leelanau Memorial Health Care Center Auxiliary.
Jeannette is survived by several nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members and friends.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years, Robert, one brother, Robert Loree, one sister, Emily Lyon and her parents.
Memorial services will be at 2 P.M. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church; which holds services and worship at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church , located at Warren and 7th streets in Northport.
Grave-side committal services will be held in Leelanau Township Cemetery in Northport. Immediately following the memorial service, friends and family are invited to return to the church to share memories and a light luncheon together.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Christopher Episcopal Church.
