Obituary

ELK RAPIDS - Jeffery Silas Anderson, 58, of Elk Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Monday February 22, 2016.
Jeff was born on August 11, 1957 in Traverse City to Alvina (Miller) and John Anderson.
Growing up it was apparent that Jeff had a passion for sports, including being an avid fan of U of M football. Along with his love for football, Jeff was a standout baseball player and loved following his beloved Detroit Tigers.
Jeff met Ginger in Illinois while he was pursing his education in the Trades. On July 15, 1983 Jeff entered into marriage with Ginger Lee Foley in Antrim County.
After completing an Associates degree, Jeff went on to complete five more years of school with Penn State, earning a certificate in pipe fitting.
He was a proud member of the Grand Traverse Band Of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians as well as being a member of the UA local 669 Sprinklerfitters Union .Jeff loved being outdoors, walking in the woods appreciating nature. He loved sports, enjoyed working on cars and sharing his knowledge with his boys. Jeff was noted for having a smile that would light up the room. His compassion and empathy for mankind is one of his greatest gifts that will never be forgotten.
Jeff is survived by his wife Ginger, sons; Will Anderson of Elk Rapids, Ryan (Grace) Hannon of Traverse City, Matthew Hannon of Nashua, NH, grandchildren; Joe Irving of Grand Rapids, Ethan Jones, Kendall Hannon, Julia Jones, Caleb Jones and Jackson Hannon all of Traverse City, and Jonah and Carter Hannon of Nashua, NH. Also surviving are his mother Alvina Marshall of Peshawbestown, and siblings Jay (Iva) Anderson of Traverse City, Jonathan Anderson of Williamsburg, Jacob Anderson of Texas, Randy (Sharon) Miller of East Jordan and Jennifer (Marty) Baker of Williamsburg, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his father John, his brothers; Tom Anderson, John Eric Anderson and Robert Miller as well as a sister, Brenda Girard.
There will be a visitation for friends and family at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday February 25, 2016 from 6pm-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 26, 2016 at 11:00am also at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the spring.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may send flowers to the funeral home or consider a donation to a fund being established in Jeff's name to honor his Native American Heritage.
