Traverse City – Jeffrey Alan Ackerman, 47, of Traverse City passed away February 2, 2022 with his wife by his side. He had battled lymphoma for three years and despite being in remission, succumbed to complications from Covid-19 after fighting it for 40 days.
Jeffrey was born on September 19, 1974 in Traverse City to Dr. William "Bill" Francis Ackerman and Ruth Ann Wojciech.
On December 29, 2001, Jeffrey married Margo Kay Hampel.
Jeff was a gifted IT genius. He loved computers from a very early age and made it his career. Jeff spent 17 years alongside his good buddy Matt at Crain Systems Group. Most recently he worked with Crystal Lake Health Clinic and he loved his job.
In his free time, in addition to spending time on the computer, Jeff had a passion for diesel trucks . He loved to work on his trucks and shared this love with his family and friends. There were no locations too far away when he wanted a different truck whether it meant driving across the state for a 2am pickup or jumping on a plane and flying to Florida without his family knowing!
He also enjoyed scuba diving in the bay, camping, swimming and sitting around the bonfires with the kids. One of his favorite things to do was going on junk yard runs for truck parts.
His friends and family would describe Jeff as vocally recognizable in a large crowd with his thunderous laugh, someone who always went the extra mile, someone who was a true friend and someone who did the best he could to make stuff happen. He never said No and had an incredibly giving spirit. He would help anyone at a moment's notice. He will be remembered for his kind and friendly demeanor, his king sized heart and his ability to fix almost anything. He was a strong man and a wonderful father to his beautiful girls. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Ackerman.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 20 years, Margo; their daughters Abigail and Alexsis; father Dr. William Ackerman; brothers Ryan (Daytona,FL. ) and Timothy Ackerman (Williamsburg Mi.) ;
